Project 2: Creativity & Innovation

Theme: environment
Reference Artist: Vincent Van Gogh
Art movement: Post-Impressionism
Introduction
The reason I choose environment becuase most of the paintings of Post-impressionism are related to environment. For example: Van Gogh's Vincent Room, Sunflower, The Night Cafe. Besides, nowadays, our earth is facing many very serious environment problems, such as air pollution, water pollution, sound pollution and many more. I really hope ocean and sky can keep natural and beautiful forever, stars are shining in the night sky, fish are freedom living in the sea. Also, I want every breath is fresh and health.

Problem Statement
Every second, human are destroying our environment, including you and me. Unfortunately, we can't fully to stop it, but we can to reduce and to save it. Look around our environment, all of high buildings, roads and cars etc. I am thinking, one of the day in the future, the blue sky and sea will only shown on our books or pictures.

Project 1: Research and Refrences

Referral Art Movement:  Post-Impressionism
Referral Artist: Vincent Van Gogh

Post-Impressionism
Post-Impressionism is the term coined by the British artist and art critic Roger Fry in 1910 to describe the development of French art since Manet.
Post-Impressionism is come out from Impressionism. Georges Seurat and his followers are disagree the triviality of subjuct matter and the loss of structure in Impressionism paintings. So, they are create a new art movement, which is call Post-Impressionism. Why this new art movement call Post-Impressionism? This is because they continued using vivid colors, thick application of paint, distinctive brush strokes, and real-life subject matter, but they were more inclined to emphasize geometric forms, to distort form for expressive effect, and to use unnatural or arbitrary color.
Famous artists in Post-Impressionism movement included Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Rousseau, Charles Angrand and Georges Lemmen, etc.

Vicent Van Gogh's Famous Artwork
Starry Night-1889
『Vincent Van Gogh’s genius hauntingly shines in the swirled brushstrokes, vivid colors and distorted forms of “Starry Night.” A Dutch Grand Master, Van Gogh (1853 – 1890) was an astoundingly prolific post-Impressionist who produced all of his work in 10 years, but only sold one painting in his life. While institutionalized, Van Gogh created “Starry Night,” his most famous painting, completely from memory. It now hangs in the permanent collection in New York’s Museum of Modern Art. 』

This song expresses the whole life of Van Gogh——short, sadness and lonely.
What does mean "You have a Van Gogh's ear for music"? This is akin to calling said person tone deaf.
